It looks like Bungie is gearing up to drop some big Destiny news next week ahead of their big E3 showcase. We expect to be officially introduced to the upcoming Rise of Iron expansion.
A quick update on their blog states that they’re preparing to “reveal your next adventure,” and that you will soon learn all about “the next threat you’ll confront as Guardians.” Now, it’s possible that this next adventure might just be a small, incremental update to Destiny rather than the massive expansion they’re planning release later this year, but Bungie is too smart to intentionally anger their already passionate fan base. They know they have to show players a reason to keep going, and this is their perfect chance.
Thanks to a leak last month, we (most likely) already know the expansion’s name, have seen the (probable) promo image, and know some details about a new raid, which will focus on the Fallen. After Destiny 2 was pushed back to 2017, this upcoming expansion is going to be the stopgap — the cool new content that keeps players immersed in the world for another year. So, it’s pretty important that Bungie handle this well.
Thankfully, we’ll know more details next week. Bungie’s live stream will take place next Thursday, June 9 at 10:00AM PT (1PM ET) via their Twitch Channel. Tune in then to see what they have for us, and then watch the developers chat about it for a more in-depth take. The stream will likely be just a taste of the expansion before Bungie’s big E3 reveal, where they’ll show off further details in a big room full of hooting bloggers. The Sony and Activision DLC partnership remains strong, so unless something remarkable happens, Bungie will be presenting during Sony’s press conference on June 15.
If you’re really excited about Sony’s press conference, you can head to your local theater to watch it among like-minded Guardians. It won’t cost you anything.looks like Bungie is gearing up to drop some big Destiny news next week ahead of their big E3 showcase.
