ESL to Host First Ever Overwatch International Competition at Gamescom 2016

ESL, the world's largest eSports company had just announced that they'l be hosting the first evert Overwatch International competition which will take place at Gamescom on August 20 to 21.


The Overwatch Atlantic Showdown at ESL gamescom tourney will have a whooping prize money of $100,000 US dollars which will be handed to eight teams- four from North America and four from Europe- along with travel costs for the qualifying teams.

The first open qualifiers of the tourney will be held on June 27 which will be hosted on ESL play. And then, the regional and the final online qualifier will be played online and broadcast in conjuction with ESL's streaming partners. Furthermore, there will be four days online competition per week in the qualifiers match, which will be held on July from Monday to Thursday.


The group stages of the competition will play out live on the Saturday of gamescom, with the finals playing out on Sunday. All of the competition will be brought to online audiences live by industry-leading analysts and commentators, yet to be announced.
