A public test region for Blizzard's Overwatch is now available in the West and as well as on Korea. The PTR will let you test out now, the upcoming updates for the game before they even hit the live servers.
This means that you can test out the Competitive Play now before anyone else does!
How to join the PTR?
First you need a valid Overwatch game license, and you need to have installed the game and logged in at least once. If you have met these requirements, then simply follow the steps below to join the PTR:
- Restart the Battle.net desktop app.
- Go to the Overwatch tab
- Select "PTR: Overwatch from the REGION/ACCOUNT drop-down menu
- Click install
The PTR is hosted in the Americas region, however all regions apart from China are eligible to participate. Be advised there's a player cap of 10,000, and if it's full, you'll be placed into a queue.
Your account plus all of the unlocks will be transferred over to the PTR, but any progress you make on the PTR won't carry back over to the main game.
The big feature you can test right now on the PTR is Competitive Play. As long as you're level 25, you'll be able to play your 10 placement matches and start playing ranked.
