The first Warcraft movie might be considered lousy by its critics but, they can't deny the fact that it is now the most successful video game movie ever made. With this success, many WoW fans are hoping to see a sequel for the film which shows some of the most exciting and interesting stories and histories of the long-running series. Will for me a sequel would be perfectly fine but, a trilogy perhaps would be totally awesome!
As a Wow fan, I truly believe that the first Warcraft movie was just the tip of the iceberg. You haven’t seen the most interesting part of the series ladies and gents! Warcraft: The Beginning just showed you the retelling of Warcraft 1: Orcs and Humans, the MS-DOS video game released 20 years ago. It tells you the events that happened on the first war with a twist, as it expanded on the lore provided by the video games and short novels by introducing new characters like Lady Taria, Callan, Aloman, Kultiran, and Varis.
But this focus on an earlier time meant you did not get to see World Of Warcraft characters like the Scorge, nor other favorites like the Night Elves, Blood Elves, Death Knights, Worgen, Horde Paladins, and many more. You also did not see the famous characters of the game like Lich King, Illidan the Betrayer, Thrall, Sylvanas Windrunner and many more. And most likely, you did not hear the stories of all these characters in the game. I have a separate article about the "seven best lore in World of Warcraft that will make a perfect movie sequel”, which you can read later to get the whole idea of what I’m saying here.
WARCRAFT REALLY DESERVES TO HAVE MORE MOVIES as it has so much story to tell and I think, Warcraft movie director Duncan Jones agrees with me.
In an interview with Man Made Movies, Duncan Jones stated that he wanted to lay a foundation upon which many Warcraft sequel could be built upon.
“Peter Jackson did a magnificent job of ‘setting the table’ for Tolkein’s universe with his first Lord of the Rings film. I know that my job in this first film is to establish certain characters, places and culture while telling a story that a broad audience can be excited by!” Jones explained. “Hopefully, if I have done my job right, people will want to know and see more! There is certainly plenty more to tell! … I would love to be part of that process of expanding on the lore that makes up Warcraft, but it will all depend on what you, the audience, think of our first film!”
In the rest of the interview, Jones discussed story elements you can see yourself by watching the Warcraft movie, but it is abundantly clear he would like to make a Warcraft trilogy if possible. The goal was to start the Warcraft film trilogy when the Orcs met humans in first contact so the audience had “fresh” eyes and a deeper understanding of why the conflict started in the first place.
“When I went to talk to Chris Metzen and the guys at Blizzard, we both saw things the same way,” Jones said. “A Warcraft film should not be about a good race of humans battling an evil race of orcs! Warcraft should be about heroes on both sides trying to avoid a conflict, when villains leave them no choice.”
Also on twitter, Duncan Jones confirmed that he would like to do a sequel if he’s allowed. He said that. “If it becomes an option, I’d love to,” Jones told one fan after he was asked if he would do Warcraft 2. “Don’t think we are quite there yet, but on the way, and doing well. I’m desperate to do Taurens. We’ll just have to wait and see if we get the chance,”

While it’s not yet been confirmed that a Warcraft sequel would be there in the future but, the success that the game have right now I think is enough incentive to pursue another one. You may see a lot of bad reviews about the first movie but believe me, there’s a lot of great story in World of Warcraft that needs to be on the big screen.
