How to Farm Exotic Engram in Destiny: The Taken King Super Fast (Guide)

Here's a guide on how to obtain Exotic Engram in the latest DLC of Destiny the game called The Taken King. This guide shows the best methods and locations to farm Exotic Engrams. Engram light orbs get dropped by defeated enemies, each Engram is a weapon or armor piece that has to be decoded at the Cryptarch in the Tower before it can be used. Upon decoding, each Engram scales to your current character level.

Find out where to farm Engrams in Destiny: The Taken King in the video tutorial.

– Requirements: You need to have at least a level 14 or higher character. And multiple of the Three of Coins consumable, which is probably the best thing since the Loot Cave got shut down last year.

Required Item #1: Buy as many “Three of Coins” as possible (costs 7 Strange Coins each). Visit the alien trader Xur in the Tower on Earth to buy them, their description reads “Stackable effect that increases the chances the next Ultra you defeat will drop an Exotic Engram.”

Required Item #2: Buy some Heavy Synths (costs 950 Glimmer). Visit the gunsmith Banshee-44 in the Tower can get you Heavy Ammo Synthesis, which reads “Single-use Ghost manufacturing package. Instantly replenish heavy weapon ammunition.”

– Location: Play the Level 14 “Scourge of Winter” Story Mission on Venus and get to the Draksis final boss ‘Wintership Simiks-Fel’ room quickly.

– How To Do It: Farm the Exotic Engrams by using 1 x Three of Coins per death, make sure you kill yourself and Draksis, then respawn. Keep repeating this process. — Using this simple method you can acquire several Exotic engrams (guaranteed) in just a couple of hours.

Tip: Remember that when using the above shown Engram farming spot in Destiny: The Taken King, it’s going to be a pretty boring couple of hours no matter which way you slice it. Bungie can also opt to patch it away at any time, so if that happens…

…Instead, you can simply choose to run high level Strike Missions to gain valuable Engrams, like the game intended you to do. Example: On the worlds map select Strike Playlist to do the Level 24 Strike Playlist called “Vanguard Tiger” with a 1-3 Fireteam, which can also straight-up give you an Exotic weapon as an activity reward. But that’s probably a bit too random compared to the above farming method.

Here are the Engrams listed by rarity from common first to rarest last:

• White colored Encoded Engram.
• Green colored Encrypted Engram.
• Light Blue colored Decoherent Engram.
• Purple colored Legendary Engram.
• Gold / Yellow colored Exotic Engram.

Another Exotic Engram Location: Buy it from the Xur shop keeper, who’s in the Tower during the weekends only. Available at a price of 23 Mote of Light. The Exotic Engram will give you “(Chest Armor / Random Class)” for having it decoded by the Cryptarch. (Remember, he may also choose to mock you and give you a useless item instead.)

Where To Find Missing Rare Engrams You Forgot To Pick Up: White & green Engrams can be missed permanently if you don’t pick them up. – Luckily, light blue and purple Engrams & Equipment that you have missed can be claimed at the Postmaster in the Tower.

Where To Decode Engrams: After you’ve picked up everything you farmed — excluding white Encoded Engram that get decoded on the spot in the field — you can decode the rest of the Rare, Legendary & Exotic Engrams in your inventory at the Tower at the Cryptarch, Master Rahool, who gives you the resulting Epic, Legendary & Exotic weapons and armor!
