What is a Trapped TH?
A trapped Town Hall, is a TH that's outside the base and appears to be unprotected but it's not. It's surrounded by various traps, usually Hidden Teslas. It's a common target for unaware TH Snipers but is usually ignored by looters as they go straight for your resources.
Who should trap their TH?
Rushers & Premmies in leagues higher than they should be (i.e. TH8 in champ). Premmies MUST leave their THs outside and trap it, it would also benefit Rushers if they trap their THs. Generally speaking, villages that can't defend themselves in their current league should trap their THs and leave it outside.
Who shouldn't trap their TH?
Maxed THs (any level) and villages with good defenses. If you can achieve defensive victories, there's no reason to trap your TH. Generally speaking, villages that can defend themselves against raids shouldn't trap their THs or leave it outside.
What army composition is weak against a Trapped TH?
It's most effective against TH snipers with a small army. Furthermore, Trapped TH is very effective against Barchers (Barbarian+Archer) but chances are, if they're attacking with a barch army, they won't be able to get more than 1-star in the first place. However, it's also useful against randomly mixed armies (i.e. drags+giants+wizards). Basically, if you do it right and someone falls for it, you can be 99% sure that you won't get 3-starred (hopefully, you'll always get 1-starred).
What army composition is strong against a Trapped TH?
Mass Dragons, Lavaloon or any army with a lot of Giants, Balloons and/or Hog Riders. Basically, it's not effective against people who attack with a strong army to gain trophies/loot.
Why should I trap my TH?
- Weakening the enemy army before they attack because the chances are, your whole base would get attacked (and flattened) anyway since your defenses are weak.
- You'll get some funny Replays to watch.
- TH snipers won't skip your village only for looters to find and flatten it.
- You will have a better chance at protecting the rest of your base while the TH is outside, minus the traps and teslas around it.
- There's a small chance you might actually gain trophies from a failed raid/snipe attempt:
- If a TH sniper attempts to hit your TH with a small army, he would most likely fail the raid.
- If someone attacks with a small army and his game crashes, you would win the defense.
- If someone attacks with a small army and his internet disconnects, you would win the defense.
How should I trap my TH?
Make it appear legit by putting decorations around your TH (to show that it's not trapped), also keep it as far away as the rest of your base as possible (preferably, leave it on the furthest corner). Put your decorations in random positions to make it look less suspicious:
Always put Teslas behind your TH and as far away as possible to keep them out of harms way. Fill the front-side of your TH with Bombs & Spring Traps. Put Giant Bombs near your Teslas. Place each Skeleton Trap within the deployment range of units and set them all to Ground. Finally, place Air Bombs and Air Mines behind your Teslas:
How NOT to trap your TH?
Do NOT do the following:
- Put Teslas in front of TH
- Protect TH with walls
- Put TH in range of defenses
- Put TH in the middle
- Place Traps far from each other with empty space in between
- Give away the position of your traps by putting exactly enough space for them between decorations
