Destiny: The Taken King Armsday 3! Field Test Weapons - Week 3 - First Order Deliveries (Guide)

Good morning again Guardians. Looks like we've gotten into a regular schedule here with our Armsday field test weapons now after our little double dip last week with the launch of TTK.

Most importantly though, this is the first Armsday featuring deliveries of weapon orders! I'd love to hear your reactions to the weapons you receive this week.

NOTE: THIS IS ABSOLUTE PRIORITY. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, DO ANYTHING WITH THE WEAPON ORDER PACKAGE IN YOUR INVENTORY. USING IT AS A CONSUMABLE DELETES IT AND YOU CAN NO LONGER OBTAIN THE WEAPON. GO IMMEDIATELY TO THE GUNSMITH AT THE TOWER!

Once you get to the tower, bring your Armsday packages from last week to the Gunsmith. You will have the option of choosing between possible variations of the weapon you ordered, with different elemental effects and perks available between your possible choices. The number of variations of each order available is equal to your Gunsmith level. This means that you should complete your field test weapons first before picking up your ordered weapons, as you may level up and get a new option.

I'd like to point out that you do NOT have the entirety of the week to place weapons orders. It appears that the time limit is when Xûr leaves the tower on Sundays. Place your orders by Saturday night.

Your ordered weapons are at 280, so a nice starting point in line with everything else you can get at the Tower.

Now, back to the field test weapons. Again, they are at 200 damage, so that seems to be the norm. We've got four primaries this week and only one secondary, and the general theme seems to be the Dreadnaught. No heavies and no Crucible for a second straight week!

Use Against Cabal

I think this is the first auto rifle we've seen for testing from Häkke. These things look like they could be weapons pulled straight out of modern day, I love the rugged look of them, and its got such a great sound when firing too. Häkke weapons definitely are up there with my favorites. As with pretty much all of this weeks weapons, patrolling the Dreadnaught is going to be your best bet, either in the Hull Breach (your starting patrol area) or just ahead through the chasm to the Mausoleum.

Make Precision Kills

Insert whale noise. Suros weapons are really clean, no nonsense, I've got to respect that. Easy enough goal, just run around pretty much wherever you'd like to get those headshot (or for Vex, heartshot) kills.

Make Precision Shots

So far I believe this is the only weapon to make it to each Armsday. It should feel familiar to you all by now, but this week it's blessed with Full Auto, so those four shot bursts are going to come quick.Again, precision shots can be done absolutely anywhere, but if you want to get this one done super quickly, go back to Siege of the Warmind once again. Waves of thralls make for easy pickings.

Use Against Hive

It's even got a little whale tail, look at it! That's adorable! Makes all the little beeps and whirs you've come to expect from your Suros weaponry, but man does this thing have quite a bit of kick at range. Again, your choices are simple for this week - Warmind or Dreadnaught, your call.

Kill Cabal Centurions

Now here's the one that might take you a little bit more time this week. Centurions aren't exactly known for showing up by the half dozen, so you're going to have to camp out somewhere. Again, best to stick with the Dreadnaught patrols. In the Mausoleum, up if you are facing the Cabal ship, you will have a Centurion who spawns and always makes his way up onto the cylindrical platform to the right, easy pickings. You can do that or just pick off the few that enter battle against the Hive in the Hull Breach as well. Also, go for ones with read health, not yellow health, as there was an issue with kills not counting against yellow health Fallen Captains last week for one of the field tests.
This week's weapons for order are as follows.

Omolon Tuonela SR4 - Scout Rifle Note that the icon for this is for some reason Suros, but this is an Omolon weapon.

FAQs -

Where do I pick up the field-test weapons?

At the Gunsmith in the Tower, his stock will refresh once weekly.

When is the weekly refresh?

Wednesdays at 5AM ET/2AM PT, now deemed Armsday.

How does placing orders work?

Every Armsday (Wednesday), a new set of legendary level weapons will be available for you to place orders on. They are available at the Gunsmith at the tower, and these weapons change each week. For every level you have reached with the Gunsmith, you may order one weapon. The weapon will be delivered the next Armsday, until which the order package will appear as an unequipable weapon in your inventory.

How much does each order cost?

2500 Glimmer

How long do I have to place orders before the next Armsday?

As of Week 2, the cutoff appears to be when Xûr leaves the tower on Sunday.

How do I get my ordered weapons?

The orders that sit in your inventory will be openable on Armsday by bringing them to the gunsmith. You will have an option to pick one of three variations of the weapon, with different perks and possible elemental choices.

How do we turn in the quests when we are done with the weapon?

You don’t. As soon as the weapon signifies to you that you have finished its field test, you are automatically rewarded with the XP towards your Gunsmith rank.

How much rep do you earn per weapon?

250 rep. Levels 1 and 2 are 1500 rep, level 3 and beyond are 2000.

Can’t I just give these weapons all to one character across my whole account for 3x the XP?

No. Gunsmith field test weapons cannot be put into the vault. Each character you have can only use these guns once each towards Gunsmith XP.

What do I do with the guns once finished?

Whatever you want. There is no need to hold on to them once completed.

How many Crucible kills do I need to finish [Insert Weapon]?

Ten kills in total, with the weapon itself, not just with it equipped. Assists count as a kill.

Kills against [Insert Enemy] aren’t counting, why?

Unless the field test specifies that kills are to be done against elite enemies (yellow heath), always do your kills against normal red-health enemies. For example, if your goal is to kill Fallen Captains, the Elite Captain at the cave on Venus leading towards the Ketch will not count.
