Community Developer Hamish Bode has said that Massive has plans to "reinvigorate" the PvE area of The Division on his Twitch stream made earlier today. The question now is, how will they do that?
Considering all the problems that The Division has undergone this month, many believe that before they jump into any reinvigorating process, they should make sure first that the game will be glitch and bug-free. Well, I also agree with this. But still if those glitches and bugs are fixed, many believe also that the game offers nothing new outside of the PvP area. Just think of this: After completing the campaign, what do you do next? Of course, go out and play on the Dark Zone. But once you get bored in the Dark Zone what will you do then? Play some incursion maybe or do redo campaigns to gain some loot. But after that, what then? It's like hitting a brick wall! To be honest, I played a lot of MMO in the past and one key feature of a great MMO is a good PvE experience.
So, I'm just glad that Hamish did say that they have plans for a better PvE experience for The Division in the future. Although he did not elaborate on the plans, but I think he could be simply referring to the upcoming DLC expansions of the game. So basically if my memory serves me well, there are 3 major expansions that Massive will be releasing in the future. These are:
Expansion I: Underground
Available in June, this first major expansion lets players explore the uncharted underworld of New York City. Players will chase deadly enemies with up to three other Agents through an endless maze of tunnels and subways.
Expansion II: Survival
Available this summer, this expansion will challenge players to survive as long as possible by gathering essential supplies in a very hostile environment.
Expansion III: Last Stand
Next winter, a new threat rises as players and their squad must prepare to defend against a relentless foe.
So I think Hamish is talking about these 3 expansions when he said that Massive has plans on "reinvigorating" the PvE area of the game. I don't want to jump into any conclusion right now that is outside of this possibility like new features for PvE or something because I just want to wait for the official confirmation from Ubi on what will they exactly do to make this happen.
