Pokemon Go developer Niantic has revealed more about Legendary Pokemon limitations and PvP.
Based on Pokemon Go director John Hanke's latest comments, Legendary Pokemon are being treated with care, and will have limitations at Gyms.
Hanke is also said to be excited about PvP battles, which suggests that a release date could be near.
Hanke made the comments during a recent lecture attended by Reddit user MichaelTheCactus.
He also shed some light on missing Gen 2 Pokemon Smeargle and Delibird, explaining that their unique moves make them hard to code.
There was no more news on Shiny Pokemon, despite Pokemon Go fans discovering fresh evidence that suggests Niantic is working on a new Shiny event.
Trainers have noticed a fluctuation of Pokemon IVs (individual values) and movesets.
This means that the same Pokemon would have different stats based on the trainer level.
"We’ve received a lot of reports via Twitter and e-mail that the mechanics of wild Pokemon encounters have changed dramatically, most likely in preparation of the release of Shiny Pokemon," explains Pokemon GO Hub.
"Trainers have reported that wild Pokemon no longer have the same core stats for every player that encounters them. The following stats are now unique per player and determined for that player (and his level) on entering the encounter."
Something similar happened when Niantic introduced Shiny Pokemon for the first time.
Likewise, the changes also make it harder to spoofers to fake their location and reap the rewards.
In other news, Niantic is working hard to shut down more and more scanning websites. Recent shut downs include two long running apps: Pokésearch and PokéSensor.
Both scanning apps were received cease and desist (C&D) letter, but early evidence suggests that Niantic is now indirectly collaborating with the Pokémon Company in these actions. Dev reports indicate that C&D letters do not include any mentions of copyright claims.
The Pokémon Company send a number of C&D letters yesterday, basing their claim on improper use of PTC (Pokémon Trainer Club) accounts by apps like Pokésearch and PokéSensor.
We’ve reached out to offending websites and they confirmed that they have been using bot PTC accounts to provide their services.
No details were shared if scanners are planning a joint legal action against the Pokémon Company.

The PTC account registration page is back online in some regions, although it is still somewhat sporadic. Also, for those of you suffering the “Nothing to scan” issue, please update to the latest commit. It was tested for roughly 10 hours, and fixed the issue for one user who got the problem on about 1 instance every 30 minutes or so. Feedback on any other issues not fixed by this commit is welcome.
