For Honor Tournaments Ban Peacekeeper

For Honor character Peacekeeper has been banned from several professional tournaments for being too “OP.” Players at several tournaments organized by MLG will be unable to pick the character and will have to think of another way to best others players of the Ubisoft fighting game.

Peacekeeper was banned after one player took to the MLG forums to complain about how overpowered she is. The player explained that “spamming” Peacekeeper’s light attacks is more than enough for players to get hits and win “even against experienced players.” Not only is she used by new players because of this ease, but when more experienced For Honor players choose her and “use these mind games and tricks in combination with the speed of the PK, she is nearly impossible to beat in a 1v1 scenario.”

In response, MLG said, “For online tournaments, we will try running a tournament with peacekeeper banned, and then send a poll.” The organizer added, “If the community is largely in favor of banning the hero then we will do so.”

With many For Honor players already responding to the ban with applause, saying that it was absolutely the right step forward, it seems likely that it will stick. Others, though, are holding out not just for a Peacekeeper ban in tournaments, but for the character to be nerfed by Ubisoft itself.

Although Ubisoft has issued some balance changes, and continues to tweak and alter characters with regular For Honor updates, it’s unclear what would be needed to encourage the company to properly decrease the character’s power. Clearly fans are massively upset with the state of the character, but perhaps nerfing her will cause mass waves of anger from those who do pick the character in order to get those easy wins.

It should be noted that Peacekeeper’s power was just one of the reasons why For Honor players are protesting the game (and its microtransactions), accusing Ubisoft of failing to do proper housekeeping. So again, while an actual Peacekeeper nerf is up in the air, perhaps the threat of ditching the game combined with this tournament ban will be just enough for Ubisoft to seriously consider it at least.

For Honor is available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
