In case the name of the series hasn't clued you in yet, Princess Zelda is a pretty big deal in the Zelda franchise. An iteration of the character appears in almost every single title going all the way back to the original Legend of Zelda. While there are many who have made an argument that the Princess functions primarily as a device to move the plot forward, YouTuber Treesicle suggests that there is a story to Zelda that most players miss.
Treesicle argues in his video that Princess Zelda has acted as a sort of cosmic guide to the events that take place in Hyrule. Acting first as the Goddess Hylia, then as the bearer of the Triforce of Wisdom, Zelda makes the heroism of Link possible. Treesicle points out examples from many of the titles in the series, particularly focusing on the Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time versions of the princess.
