Bungie Reveals New Taken King Update and Talks About Year Two Plans

DESTINY fans have witnessed many changes unfold affecting Bungie, The Taken King and the game’s Year Two plans.

The studio have been busy trying to fix lagging issues in the Crucible, a problem that has been bugging fans for quite sometime.

Since Bungie's first attempts to try and combat this, several new fixes have been deployed to help update the game to a better standard.

Design lead Lars Bakken had some fresh information for fans on the Destiny update, revealing: “There are still issues for sure, but even after a few hours of data, we were noticing good things.

“That’s why I was ecstatic when the Matchmaking team said they thought they could do even more yesterday. The plan is to keep looking at data, listen to the community, keep you updated, and see how much more we can do to make the experience better.”

Bakken explained that he hoped to deploy these changes to further modes in the future, adding: “Of course, the end goal has always been to push this out to our other playlists so they can share in the love. We’ll do that when we feel like we have a good solution we’re happy with.”

Destiny Senior Designer Leif Johansen also shared some more details on the new Taken King mode arriving in February, Crimson Doubles.

"We’re opening up a Fireteam-Only 2v2 Elimination playlist with a twist: you get a significant buff while your teammate is dead. Having to ask someone to be your Guardian Valentine and being filled with angry vengeance when they get killed are the experiences that I hope will define the event.

“When you find yourself alone in the fight, you gain maximum ratings for Armor, Agility, Recovery, and Weapon Handling speed.

“Hearing Bungie devs swear vengeance for their beloved Crimson partners during playtests sealed the deal for me.

As suspected, Crimson Doubles will be lasting just a week, so gamers will have to be ready for whatever else is being prepared for Destiny’s new update in February.

Bungie community manager David Dague only hinted as what else could be included, although it wouldn’t be surprising if more was being planned following a challenging month.

Destiny in 2016 has come with warnings of the game’s sequel being pushed back to next year and a new DLC expansion taking its place.

Dague signed off with a promise that Bungie would try to be more informative from now on, another fan pet-peeve that has been causing problems.

“The February Update includes more than Crimson Days," Dague commented.

“There are more bullets we’ll be firing to impact the quality of your Guardian lifestyle. Pay us a visit next week for a preview.

“Your faithful Community Team pledges to lead the conversation as we support the game we are playing now, and bring you along as the world you know changes.”
