Pokemon Go developer Niantic is already teasing the next big in-game event, just hours after the Pokemon Day update went live.
Pokemon Go picked up Best Mobile Game at the DICE Awards, which led to a member of the development team telling fans to save their in-game candy.
As The Silph Road points out, this could be a teaser for another new double XP event. This is based on a pattern that has emerged with event rewards.
"Halloween (double candy) -> Thanksgiving (double xp) -> Christmas/New Year (Special. Santachu + increased Kanto starter spawn rate) -> Valentine's (double candy) -> ? Event (double xp) -> Easter (Special. Increased 10 km egg drop rate?"
If the next Pokemon Go event does take place before Easter, then perhaps Niantic will do something for St Patrick's Day, or maybe even Mother's Day.
Either way, it's good news for Pokemon Go players.
Niantic's latest Pokemon Day update went live on February 26 and will run all the way until 9pm (UK time) on March 6.
To celebrate the release of the very first Pokemon games in Japan, Niantic has dressed Pikachu up in a festive party hat.
Here's what Niantic had to say about the special event: "Pikachu is ready to lead the Pokémon Day celebration in Pokémon GO. From February 26 at 1pm PST to March 6 at 1pm PST (9pm UK time), any Pikachu you encounter in the wild will be wearing a festive party hat!
"The Pikachu you catch during that time will keep its party hat forever, so be sure to look for this special Pikachu during its short time in the wild."
Niantic also wants fans to share snaps of any Pokemon they encounter by using the AR camera and PokemonDay hashtag.
Data miners have uncovered all the secrets from the latest Pokemon Go APK update.
The big discovery pertains to shiny Pokemon, and in particular, how players will be able to identify them.
Newly uncovered data suggests that shiny Pokemon will be represented by different icons on the world map.
Furthermore, players attempting to transfer shiny Pokemon will receive a warning message before swapping their pocket monster for candy.
This is an especially welcome move when you consider the chances of encountering them are thought to be just 1 in 8192.
