New data mined from Pokemon Go files has revealed that Mewtwo may be much closer than Trainers had anticipated with several new assets pointing towards the next Legendary Pokemon.
Mewtwo is the big Legendary that many Pokemon Go players have been hoping for ever since the game was initially released. With a trailer that showed Trainers battling Mewtwo in Times Square, players could only wonder when Legendary Pokemon would begin appearing in the game. Now that the milestone is behind us, Pokemon Go is blowing through Legendaries with Lugia, Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos already in Trainers' collections, and Mewtwo being next seems like a very real possibility.
If the shiny sprite wasn't enough to get players excited, several changes for Mewtwo's stats also indicate that some work is being done on the Legendary, perhaps in preparation for a release that's coming soon.
A development that's got Pokemon Go players very excited about the Legendary Pokemon Mewtwo, a shiny sprite has been spotted within the game's files.
Seen below, evidence of the Shiny Mewtwo was first posted on Reddit within r/TheSilphRoad, an online community dedicated to Pokemon Go news and updates. Trading out purple accents for some green ones instead, the shiny model discovered for Pokemon Go is a promising indicator that a release is on its way.
This isn't the first time that Legendary Pokemon have had shiny sprites found in the game's files, but when considering that the other four Legendary Pokemon to receive their shiny forms are all already in the game, Mewtwo is in pretty good company.
Mewtwo Receives Stat Changes
If the shiny sprite for Mewtwo being found in the game's files isn't enough by itself to generate some Mewtow hype, the stat changes that have been mined for the Legendary are definitely promising.
From the stats shown above that were listed by Battle Calculator detailed the changes shipped to Mewtwo, it looks like several of the Pokemon's stats were lowered. Base numbers for Mewtwo's stamina, attack, and defense all took a hit in the changes.
Both the max CP and HP were also discovered to have experienced changes as well, the two stats also being lowered. While these changes could very well come at any time, having them appear close to when many players hope the next Legendary Pokemon is expected to be released is a promising sign.
When Mewtwo Might Be Released
With stat changes and a shiny sprite appearing for Mewtwo, the big question remains: When will the Legendary Pokemon be released in Pokemon Go?
Signs point to a release date coming sooner rather than later, especially when examined alongside the Pokemon Go event that's currently underway in Japan.
Over in Yokohama, the Pikachu Outbreak Festival is in full swing with tons of Pokemon Go players taking part in the festivities. With Pokemon appearing all over the place and special events occurring all the time, the festival would be the perfect time to release Mewtwo.
The Pokemon Go Stadium event is likely the launching point for a new Legendary, a special event that's set to take place tomorrow. If Mewtwo is released, it might stay in Japan for just a brief time, but players can expect an eventual worldwide release given how popular the Pokemon is.
