The Zelda speedrunning community is one of the most dedicated, and a recent discovery in The Wind Waker has turned some heads. The discovery was made by YouTuber and Zelda runner Fish_waffle64. The feat in question is defeating the boss of the Forbidden Woods with a bottle of magical forest water. Normally, the forest water has very limited usage as a side quest item. Pouring it onto the cursed plant, however, slays it instantly. The current world record holder for The Wind Waker doesn't see this trick being used in future runs, however.
I think this is a really cool thing to find in a game that's almost 15 years old. Its certainly unorthodox to use a sidequest item, one stored in a bottle no less, to kill a boss in one move. With the kind of waves this has made in the speedrunning world, or just overall, it makes me wonder if there will be other hidden discoveries in the future.
