Here's strategy involving the drone holes beneath wooden barricades. Click on this guide to bless yo' self with an amazing, yet simple strategy for getting the upper hand against your enemy.
Basics and Instructions
Simply put, this tactic increases the size of the drone hole in the door, allowing you to see the enemy's boots (Or purple skechers for IQ) from a farther distance. This can be very beneficial if you're defending a long hallway leading to your hostage/container/bomb, because the enemy is stuck in that narrow walking area. I will be including beautifully drawn pictures from Microsoft Paint to give a deeper understanding of the VERY COMPLICATED INNER WORKINGS OF shooting a hole in a barricade. Here are the instructions...
1. Barricade the door of choice.
I hope I don't have to explain this step.
2. Remove it.
This creates a pile of what used to be a wooden barricade. This step makes the strategy look more natural. As the operator Glaz says, "Do you know what an artist and a sniper have in common? Details. Like when a touch of color is out of place. When a shadow doesn't match with its surroundings. Or when a shape is not where it is supposed to be. The only difference is the stakes. Mine are higher." Same concept, right?
3. Barricade it again.
Yes, I get it. It's getting pretty repetitive, but trust me, It works. This is the barricade that will be up when the round starts, the one you'll be shooting under.
4. Shoot the bottom bar off the door
It should end up like this
In conclusion, the drone hole will be larger, the bottom bar that was shot off will fall into the rubble and blend in, and (hopefully) the enemy won't notice.
Explanation
This section focuses on the technicalities within this very simple gimmick.
*feel free to correct me if there are any mistakes*
This strongly favors the person at a lower stance.
Basically, the normal drone holes are too low. For you to have a clear view of everything behind a barricade, you need to be lower than the shallowest point on the barricade. If that point is lower than your viewmodel, then you have limited vision of what is behind that door.
With this in mind, the purpose of this trick is to discreetly increase the size of your view.
Here's another picture to help depict the outcome.
If the attacker who is about to breach the door is standing, this gives him little to no extra vision of what's behind the barricade. This is due to his viewmodel substantially higher than the gap, so it makes an unnoticeable difference.
One last thing to note is that the farther the attacker is from the door, the more he can see from under the extended gap. Although they're probably not going to be paying attention at that distance, it should be something taken into consideration when picking where to make use of this.
Countering Method
Ok, so every force has an opposite and equal reaction. Again, same concept. (I'm sorry Newton)
What I'm trying to say is that there are two ways to counter this trick.
1. Always keep your eyes peeled
If you're aware enough, you'll notice that the yellow supports on the side of the barricade extend beyond the bottom of the new barricade. Also, two tiny stubs of the bottom board at each side of the frame. If you can spot this, try to avoid the door if possible. Here's what I'm talking about,
2. Tell ASH to get her glorified 320 and breach that door!
If you are able to see the visual differences, you can use a gadget available to every operator called a "radio" and tell either ash or anyone with a grenade to destroy the barricade without going within 15 meters of it. That my friends is called teamwork.
Effective Locations (My personal favorites)
This section is dedicated to demonstrating how and where to use this tactic. Hopefully this will give you an idea of how to use it to your own advantage in your own positions.
Clubhouse - Strip Club
This is located on the west side of the strip room, and it covers a door where enemies enter from the left.
Hereford Base - Basement
This covers the main hallway and stairs. You can use this on most of the levels of Hereford, but the basement is most effective because there isn't a staircase leading up into it, so the enemy cannot have the "low viewmodel" advantage mentioned in section 2.
Presidential Plane - Meeting Room
This position covers the "Death Stairs". This entrance gets its name from the rounds where whole teams get wiped out in a matter of 5 seconds by someone who pushes outside. Beware, this position is only good for a few seconds when the enemy is distracted because they will get the "low viewmodel" advantage because they're on stairs leading up to you.
Bank - 2nd Floor Location
This covers the long hallway and the windows leading into it on the right side relative to the desk. This is particularly effective because the enemy won't have much moving space after you begin to engage. In addition, on the right-hand side there are two windows, any repelling enemies will be seen from this position.
Kanal - 2nd Floor Location
This spot is farther away from the objective than others, but this makes enemies suspect it less. It covers the bridge connecting the brick and control buildings. Most players will not expect this and, if you're fast enough, you can get a kill or two.
